Ruby L.JPG  In room 12 we did handprint and footprint calendar art.

  1. Firstly, you had to choose a picture from the internet (That’s footprint and handprint art)

  1. Secondly, we had to plan it on a piece of paper and trace around your hand NOT painting it.

  1. Then we would show Mrs Miller if we were finished, she was looking for detail and really good ideas, and if she says yes  then you could go and get your good copy.

  1. On your  good copy if you wanted flakes you draw them in white pastel first.

  1. Straight after that you would dye the background and wait for a day

  1. After the day has been, you would paint your hand or foot and put your hand/foot on the paper then you would have a hand/foot print.

  1. Then you wait for a day again, then put your decorations.

  1. Then you would be finished

The challenge was getting the whole thing perfect and NOT mucking up our calendar art.
Once I was finished my Artwork I was amazed and Happy :)

Here is a photo of my art :)

Origami - Week 8 Term 3

On Sunday the 13th of September I did some Origami, I did some Origami Bunnies and Corner book marks and a Heart.   To be honest it is trickier than you think because if you get the folding wrong your origami is wrong (like completely). The Origami bunnies were sort of weird because some folding bits were in places that you don't think that it would be. I thought that I was finished the bunny but then it kept on talking and I was like what, what is going to happen now. The corner book marks are really fun to make because at the end you get to decorate them and put googly eyes on the book mark and other stuff like that.

Here are some photos

Driftwood Art - Week 7 Term 3

Driftwood Art!!!

One day my class did some driftwood art.  Driftwood art is when you get like 5 or 10 pieces and make a word or a little picture.  Anyway we did some driftwood art one day, on Wednesday the 9th of September we hot glued if our art work was broken and tied string on it ready for the art exhibition.

Jack Marsden Mayer

If you're wondering who Jack Marsden Mayer is, he is who we got the ideas from about driftwood. I'm going to tell you who Jack is... Jack has been working with driftwood since he arrived in New Zealand (that was in 2008).  Jack was born in Manchester in England.
Here are some photos of Jack Marsden Mayer work.

Here is a photo of me with my art!

  • Speak together in a group

Animal Band!!!
On Friday the 4th of September, my class ( Room 12 ) did their Assembly item.  The Assembly item was called "The Animal Band".
My Part was the Donkey with Henrietta, the other choices were Roosters, Cats, Dogs, Readers, Narrators and Robbers.
I will tell you who was acting what:
Narrator 1 was Kady.
Narrator 2 was Maiya.
The Readers were Beau, Thomas and Teague.
The Donkeys were Henrietta and Me.
Robber 1 was Tayla, Ella, Liam, Boston and Nathan.
Robber 2 was Kaedyn.
Robber 3 was Max, Lachlan and Jack.
When I first saw the kids all sitting down (arriving), I had the butterflies and thought that I might muck up or talk too fast.
The funniest part was Kaedyn's line, "Ah there's a giant coming in the window" because Kaedyn did his line with Expression and Clarity so every one could hear what he was saying.
The Donkey Hats!!
When we were on stage performing, Henrietta and I had Donkey Hats on that Henrietta's mum had made. (They were SO cool)
Here are some photos.

Dogs are better that Cats - Term 4 Week 5

WALT persuade other students to agree with our opinion.  This the purpose for my writing.
Success Criteria:
  1. I plan for a writing task
  2. I write a variety of sentence lengths with different sentence starters
  3. Give reasons with detail - use specific words
  4. I write most topic and high frequency words correctly.
  5. I use capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks correctly.
  6. Use persuasive language

DOGS MAKE WAY BETTER PETS THAN CATS!!!

I strongly believe that Dogs are better than Cats!

Furthermore, if you have a fun dog you can throw a frisbee or a ball at them to catch. To be honest it’s fun for your dogs and fun for you, and cats cannot catch a ball in their mouth or a frisbee.  Another point is you can teach them how to do ROLLY POLLYS, because my dog can do Rolly pollys.

Another reason is if you train your dog they can get your newspaper for you and cats cannot because they don’t have big enough mouths. Dogs keep your house safe, if there is a burglar they will bark and wake you up so you can call the police, unfortunately cats don’t, they would go meow very quietly and won’t wake you up.

For an example, you get fitter from walking your dogs and your dogs get fitter as well, but you cannot really walk your cats. One more reason is that you could take long walks with your dogs but you cannot with your cat because they don’t like going for long walks!

Therefore I believe that dogs are better than cats! Woof!

Country Life is better than City Life! - Term 3 Week 4

WALT persuade other students to agree with our opinion.  This is the purpose for my writing.

County Life is better than City Life

I strongly believe that Country life is better than city life.

                                            Having Fun!
In the Countryside it is FUN because you can MAKE lots of tree-houses and play in them for EVER. Furthermore you can have sleepovers in the tree-house, go to creeks and take the Hinaki out and catch some eels. Another point is you get to throw stones into the river and watch them PLOP, or skim stones into rivers and watch them BOUNCE. My last reason is doing horse riding with your family and going to the creek and through the creek if the water is LOW!

                                                 Experience!
In the Country you can EXPERIENCE more stuff in your life like seeing animals that you haven’t seen before in your life. For an example you can experience more space because city life is so close together because there is more people. ( More Space in country life )

                                              Explore!
Another thing is that you can EXPLORE more in the country. You can play tag in the trees and EXPLORE the things that you don’t know about trees, like if you didn’t know that trees have sap in them and sometimes the sap comes out. One more thing is... that you EXPLORE the country.

I believe that country life is WAY better than city life, and I reckon that you should live there because it is GLORYUMPTIOUS!!!

Matariki Reflection - Week 10

Ruby L Poi.JPG
Matariki Reflection !!!
On Monday we had Matariki, it was really really awesome. I did Poi making and Rakau. I thought that the Poi making would be easy but when I did it, it was sort of hard. At the start I had help but at the end I didn’t because the plastic bag bit was easy but the plaiting and doing the Fishtail was hard. Everybody kept calling the stuffing Daisy the Lamb.

After I did poi making I did Rakau, it was fun because we did lots of different moves. First we used rolled up newspaper and did some difficult moves but then I got the hang of it.  We used the big Rakau for the games, I got out straight away!

Mum and Dad! Week 8

Chapter 1: The day we were creeped out!
Chapter 2: The search for Mum and Dad!
Chapter 3: Mum and Dad
Characters: Kalae, Sienna, Emma, Henrietta, Sophia, Mum, Dad and ME

Mum and Dad
Chapter 1 : The day we were creeped out!
One night when I was fast asleep, something woke me up. Was it the creepy noises? The light in my door or my open window?
“What, where am I?” my friend Henrietta said.
“Ahhh, you scared me,” I said back.
I started walking to Sophia's room, then I saw Sophia, she had her legs crossed and her hand was holding a torch. I went in and said “ What is the matter?”
Sophia said back, “Something woke me up and I hear creepy noises."
I replied back, “Same with us.”
So we looked in my Mum and Dad’s bedroom to say what happened to us BUT their room was EMPTY.
“How scary,” Henrietta said.

Chapter 2 : The search for Mum and Dad!
As quick as I could, I called Sienna, Kalae and Emma and said “My Mum and Dad are missing, can you help me find them?”
My friends replied back, “Of course we would.”
Once my friends got back, me and my friends and Sophia looked all around the house. Once everyone looked around the house we sat on the couch and all we could find was a little teddy bear (with one eye) ( It was creepy). So we threw it out the window and my dog ate it up...IT WAS GONE!
Once everybody was sitting down on the couch I got  a phone call from Cowman (Cowman is the mean guy in the story) and he said, “Come to my place at midnight, and if you don’t come your Mum and Dad will be staying with me.”
“Dirty Cowman, so will we go at midnight?” said Henrietta.
“Yes, we will go at midnight,” I said back.

Chapter 3: Mum and Dad!
So I set my alarm for 11.00 (I did it an hour before, because the girls have to get their makeup on). So when it was 11.00, the girls woke up and put their makeup on. At 11.30, we were in the car, Sophia drove us to a place and up on the top of the building it said Kidnappers Place!
“How FREAKY,” said Henrietta.
“You are right,” I said.
So we went in the backdoor and we tiptoed up the stairs. A few minutes later Cowman appeared in front of the door.
“Do you want your mum and dad, and who are these people?” said Cowman.
“Yes please, and also they are my backup people,” I said.
“Paper, scissors, rock to see who wins,” said Cowman.
“Of course,” I replied back.
Guess what I did? Rock and he did Scissors!
“Ha ha, Cowman,” I said.
That was the best day of my life.
What a Nightmare!
