Art Trail - #Year 4

ART TRAIL!!!

On Thursday the 27th of August, we went on an art trail with Room 11 and Room 10.  My group was Sienna J , Shontae, Emma J and I. In our group we had to have an adult, our adult's name was Eva. The art trail was when you went around town and answered questions. I think there were about 17 questions ( We didn't get them all right -but it was still fun ) Some questions were near paper plus and some were near my mum and dad's shop ( Cafe at Westermans )
I think the hardest question was to count how many triangles there were painted on the ground because my team got 27 and other teams got like 50 and I think the answer was like 49 (I don't know )
I really liked the art trail because we got to go around town and answer hard and easy questions. Another thing I liked about the art trail was the people who I was with, we worked together as a team and didn't leave anyone out.

Puppies in a Toilet - # Year 4

Once upon a time there was a toilet as big as a house.  In the toilet there was 5 little puppies.  One day the puppies were swimming in the toilet and a little pup accidentally pushed a little button and out of nowhere a red odd bubble appeared and the bubble was turning into a queen. But the queen was in the toilet too. Then the queen brought an apple and put it in the toilet and the 5th dog ate the apple and it died and sunk to the bottom. Then the EVIL queen got string and choked the 4th dog and the 4th dog sunk to the bottom too. After the 4th dog sunk to the bottom the 3rd and 2nd dog got concoction and died and floated around in the toilet. Then there was only one dog left. The queen  got a knife and swung it behind her head to get more power in the chop off, just before she was about to do the big chop... Olaf made a wish and his wish was I want the queen to die and I want the puppies to live. Everyone lived expect for the Queen!

Hundertwasser Art

This is my Hundertwasser art
My Hundertwasser art is bright and bold. I like my art because you see it from a long way a way. This art took a long time but I persevered and finished it. The hardest part about my art was coloring because we had to have it bold. My favorite design was the circles in the top right because they look bright and they stand out a lot. The one that isn't my favorite is the face in the bottom right because I couldn't get the right face color so now I don't like it that much but I love the finished product. So I hoped you learn't a little about my art and what was challenge and what was not :)

Kids Should Get Pocket Money

Success Criteria
  • I prepare for the writing task
  • My writing states my point of view and then includes three big reasons with detail.
  • Include simple and compound sentences.
  • Include some complex sentences.
  • Start most of my sentences with different words.
  • Include emotional and persuasive language.
  • I organise my ideas with supporting evidence into paragraphs
  • I record essential list words correctly.
  • I use basic punctuation correctly  .  ,  !  ?  ‘  ;  “  “

I am writing to persuade people that children should get pocket money for doing jobs around the house, I have 3 main points to support my argument.

Help When They Are Adults
If everyone gets money when they’re children they will learn how to save money for important things, and won’t have to learn to save when they are older and learn as children.  Everyone will soon make important decisions about what they need and want, they would buy food and a drink over a crazy pen.
Of course getting pocket money will definitely help with their education, because when you  get pocket money obviously you save it for a bit ( Then spend it ) Every dollar will help your future. Pocket money also helps with getting houses and cars and everything else you need when you are older.

Responsibility
Secondly, at school during maths your child will learn the value of money. Before children get pocket money, parents could go over rules about receiving pocket money. Children will also learn how to manage their budget wisely so they don’t go over it when they are older and hopefully they don’t forget what is was!
Furthermore, they will become careful when spending money and won’t spend on lollies, junk food and lots of stuff they don’t need. It is probably better to start giving pocket money to your children now so then they learn what they’re  spending their money on and don’t make mistakes when they are adults.

Learn How To Spend Wisely
I am sure that when children get pocket money they can save up to buy something that they have always wanted ( like a hoverboard )and then your parents won’t have to buy it for you. Sometimes parents let you down and say “No, sorry darling.” But when you save you can buy something with your own money and won’t be let down again by your parents ( I guess that is one way you couldn’t get into a fight with your parents) When children start getting pocket money they should start a savings and spending account, a savings account is when you have an account in the bank and it saves all your money for you. When you are a child your parents take care of your account. When I do my jobs and get pocket money my parents put a bit in my savings account and some to me  so then I don’t have to worry about a lot of money.

I strongly believe that children should get pocket money for doing jobs around the house!

Giraffe Enclosure

My Creature is a Giraffe

Some things I needed to consider about my creature:
I needed lots of room for my pet to run around ( Because it’s a fast runner )
Grass for The outside area so It would look like where  it might live ( Jungle )
Feijoas for It to eat ( Not starving to death )
Trees for oxygen so then they stay alive.
Giraffes like to stretch so I need to have something that they can stretch up to.
My enclosure has these special features for my pet:
Feijoas hang from the ceiling ( Working for food ).
A BIG water bowl for drinking.
Soft Bed so it’s not hard ( Won’t get any bed injuries ( Like Neck Hurts )
I also needed tall walls for my pet because Giraffes have long necks and they can’t be cramped in there own Enclosure.
Grass and Leaves so then it felt like their actual home ( In the Jungle ).

What I am pleased about:
The Feijoas  because I made they work for their food so then they won’t get bored eating their food, Like the bit that I’m pleased about is how the Feijoes are tied to the ceiling ( and how it worked .)
The bed because like if I was sleeping in it, would be comfortable so it would also be comfortable for the Giraffe .
I’m also pleased about how the Enclosure turned out because I actually thought that  it would turn out worse.
I also am pleased how I got absorbed in learning. Because then I didn’t want to stop.
What I would like to improve:
The Outside area because there is like Nothing in the outside area for it to play with.  Except  for the Swing/ String hanging from the roof.
Also the trees because there is only 4 -5 leaves on the trees.

Bear Attack - Week 11

Bear Attack!!!
One day when my class was doing art... My class saw a BEAR outside the window.  Henrietta came to my class from going to the loo, and the bear had followed her without Henrietta knowing. But  the bear made a noise and scared Henrietta and she SCREAMED like a boy, so Henrietta started running.
Once Henrietta went up the stairs of the ramp, the bear tripped up and so she had time to get inside. When Henrietta got to the door she started banging on the door but it wasn't open, then she broke the door handle so Mrs Miller got the keys and opened the door and locked it when Henrietta came inside.
After that Mrs Miller saw the bear and fainted. The kids and I went happily back to our art BUT the bear broke the glass and so the kids and I ran as fast as we could to room 11 with Mrs Miller.  The door was open, what a relief that was.
So we ran into room 11 and Mrs Lowe locked the door as fast as she could so we would be safe.
The bear was like " O damet," and went to room 11's door but the glass was smash proof so the bear couldn't get in.
"Finally we are safe!" I said.
"What a relief!" said Henrietta.
But then the bear came the other way and opened the door from room 12.  Room 11 went out of the class and room 11 and 12 ran really fast to the office with Mrs Miller and Mrs Lowe and so we put the message on the speaker and said " Everyone there is a BEAR going around the school so don't go outside k."
But there was a class outside doing P.E, they didn't see the bear. When the teacher was talking the bear came up behind her and scared the kids. So the kids ran away to their class, and the bear ate the teacher. So when we were in the office they couldn't deliver lunch orders so we had them.  (That was the best garlic bread I have EVER had)
WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!

Project Based Learning

Project Based Learning Blog post

Step One
Selecting a context
Lost in the Bush
Save the Bush
Fun in the Bush
Step Two & Three
Create questions and identify one broad question

How would you contact people when you are lost in bush?
Step Four
What did I already know about my question?
  1. You would have no cellphone coverage
  2. Lose battery life and  you wouldn’t be able charge it
  3. Dove
  4. Get a mirror and reflect It off the sun
Step Five
Design your creation
IMG_0063.JPG
⇨ Smoke Signal
It was tricky to find a topic because what we already knew we couldn’t make and we didn’t have the right materials
Step Six
Build your creation and write something about it
Ruby and Jack's PBL.JPG
Morse Code If it has - long line. Then u do a long pull out.( Like the first one on G). If there is a . It’s a short/little pull out ( Like the first one one A).
You can do the Morse code with Lights, Flags, Beeping noises and Using the smoke signal.
Step Seven
Reflection
How did it go? It went really good because everything went how it was meant to go. Accepted the wood not going in the right place
What went well? Morse Code, Sort of painting and the bit where u put the burning liquid in.
What was a challenge? Getting the wood in the right place and screwing through the whiteboard
Step Eight
Evaluate
What would you change next time? Don’t paint It because Me and Jack both agreed that we won’t paint it next time or just a different color
What would you improve next time? Try not to get big drips on the sides
Feedback - ask some other children what they thought?
Henri = I like how you stuck the Morse code on because it is really helpful in case someone actually used it so good job
Kalae = I like how you  have put in how the Morse code works.
Charlotte =  I love the Morse code  and the materials you used .
Livy = I like it how you have put the Morse code in because it is really helpful.

Cry Baby

Cry Baby

I Ate a Cry baby
My Family Dared me
Wasn’t sour for a minute
And then fell in the sea

I squinted the whole time
It Steamed My Ears
I sprinted to the Fridge
Then broke into tears

Tears poured like rivers from my eyes
Then I had to Shout
My tongue was swelling up fast
It would of been better if I went without

“ I want another one”

Calendar Art

WALT present a piece of art work for our parents to buy.
Success Criteria
  • Take our time, show patience (GRIT)
  • Plan our piece of artwork
  • Take care with the painting and dyeing
  • Research for our inspiration
  • Explain the steps you took to make your artwork on your blog
  • How do you feel about your artwork?
  • What was  a challenge?

                        Calendar Art!!!!!

Ruby L.JPG  In room 12 we did handprint and footprint calendar art.

  1. Firstly, you had to choose a picture from the internet (That’s footprint and handprint art)

  1. Secondly, we had to plan it on a piece of paper and trace around your hand NOT painting it.

  1. Then we would show Mrs Miller if we were finished, she was looking for detail and really good ideas, and if she says yes  then you could go and get your good copy.

  1. On your  good copy if you wanted flakes you draw them in white pastel first.

  1. Straight after that you would dye the background and wait for a day

  1. After the day has been, you would paint your hand or foot and put your hand/foot on the paper then you would have a hand/foot print.

  1. Then you wait for a day again, then put your decorations.

  1. Then you would be finished

The challenge was getting the whole thing perfect and NOT mucking up our calendar art.
Once I was finished my Artwork I was amazed and Happy :)

Here is a photo of my art :)
